41 lessons

Hey! It’s birthday time! I always enjoy my birthday time because it means fall is right here! I celebrated by going to Hobby Lobby, getting my ear pierced with my youngest sister, and eating lunch at McDonald’s so children could play on the amazing playground!

I always inevitably think back over my life up to this point and think about lessons I have learned and people I have met who have influenced me. This year is no different! Lessons I have learned – here we go!

  1. Make time for people
  2. Sometimes the end of the road is actually the beginning of a new one
  3. Wake up early
  4. Take care of the place I live, no matter what I hope to attain later
  5. Stay humble and God will lift you up in due time
  6. Don’t praise yourself – let other people do it for you
  7. Seek God first – everyday
  8. Work out several times weekly – it does wonders for body and mind
  9. Lift heavy weights
  10. Courage is worshiping through waiting
  11. Grades, extracurriculars, popularity, and earthly accolades don’t matter in the end – only the relationship with God matters – refuse to let the world take over and let the worldly awards creep in and take over time for worship at church
  12. Get outside in the sunshine everyday
  13. Say no to commitments with love, if you are stressed out
  14. Guard your heart even when it feels silly – don’t watch the new most popular movies or succumb to the most popular songs if they don’t honor God
  15. Peace is found when some feelings and thoughts and prayers are kept just between you and God
  16. Be on time everywhere even when it seems unimportant
  17. Dress like it matters to be there
  18. After lunch, there MUST be a rest or quiet time for sanity keeping
  19. Learn new hobbies – one is never too old to learn something new
  20. Choose excitement for small events in life, like a cup of coffee, a favorite tv show at night, or seeing a friend
  21. If it sounds like a bad idea, it probably is
  22. We drown in entertainment like music, tv, and movies, but God often speaks in the quiet – we must turn it all off for a time and just listen
  23. Don’t let hurt from others keep you from new friends
  24. Clutter causes stress – throw junk away
  25. No matter what is happening, don’t let feelings throw you off – get up, open the curtains, make your bed, get dressed, fix your hair, and eat breakfast – even if you don’t “feel” like it
  26. Lift others up in front of them
  27. Always tell the truth, even when it isn’t pleasant – it can be spoken in love (Ephesians 4:15)
  28. Chores aren’t harmful – in fact, they build self-esteem
  29. Take a minute (or a day) when feeling hurt or angry
  30. Keep your eyes on your life, your job, your grades, your plan, not on what everyone else has or is doing
  31. You are who your friends are, no matter how old you are
  32. Mind your own business
  33. Simplify your schedule, meals, emails, chores, everything
  34. Nobody needs 907,487 cleaning products in the cleaning closet – just the basics will do
  35. Smile and say hello even if you think people don’t care who you are
  36. Look of the good in people because what you look for, you will find – good or bad
  37. Work long and work hard at whatever you have to do
  38. People with hobbies are sometimes hard to find because they require delayed gratification and culture celebrates immediate results – have hobbies and fun activities
  39. Make a to-do list each night or at least each morning to keep yourself on track and relax your memory
  40. If you feel rushed to make a decision, it may not be the best choice – God’s voice will provide peace and calm
  41. Go barefoot outside

I could totally do more lessons, but I guess I’ll add one more next year! What is God teaching you this week?

In 2020, all I did was sew these pennant banners for every holiday and occasion in existence. I cut so many triangles I thought I could never cut another one! These purple, pink, and turquoise banners are used for all the girl birthdays. They work for summer or even winter for a Nutcracker theme by adding silver and gold!

Pic(k) of the week:
My sewing pattern still waiting to be cut, taped, and used for a sundress! I have had the pattern printed for several months, but hadn’t laid it out to actually use it. This is the week!
