what I'm lovin'
Hey y’all! How has your week been? We girls survived four days of girl tribe time while the boo (also known as Daddy) was gone on a business trip! Whew! It’s the first time we have spent alone overnight with all five of us! Tuesday night we had a thunderstorm, so after we pulled into the garage after kids night at Chick-fil-A, the electricity went out. It sounds terrible, but that was the most peaceful night we had all week. I dug through one of the two unopened boxes from the move in the garage to find the candles we have and placed them through the upstairs. We took baths by candlelight, prayed together, and the girls went to sleep peacefully. The electricity came back on soon after they went to bed, so I got a little quiet tv time in too! Woohoo!
I want to take some time to share some stuff I am loving right now. This month, the music we are loving in the car is by Hannah Kerr called “Overflow.” Even though my oldest two girls are only four and three, they still love to sing the songs. I have many requests each time we drive for the “Warrior song.” I was asked what a warrior is, so we had a great (short) conversation about how because of Jesus we can fight through all kinds of difficult circumstances. We related it to moving, the most recent stressor. Even for a four-year-old, moving has been sad for her, and she often mentions missing her old church, friends, and house. Not going to lie, it has been tough for me too. It is always difficult to leave what is comfortable and familiar to take on something new. Even if it turns out better, the beginning is weird because everything is new and unfamiliar.
The three-year-old loves the song called “Your Love Defends Me.” Even when we feel alone, we can know we are not, as His love defends us. He is our joy and strength. These words may seem simplistic, but these truths are not just for little ones. They are true for all of us, no matter how old and no matter how complicated our lives become. Whether facing job loss, bullying, financial issues, divorce, friend problems, sickness, and whatever it may be for you, we know He is here right with us. Did you know He cares so much that He carries our tears?
You keep track of all my sorrows.[a]
You have collected all my tears in your bottle.
You have recorded each one in your book.
Psalm 56:8
David was having a rough time with King Saul hunting him down to kill him, since he wanted his own son to be king. David was scared and unsure of the future. God, in His kindness knew David’s fear and anxiety, and kept watch over him. God does that for us too. No matter how “big” or how “small” something may be. Every tear that shows emotion for us is important to Him. I don’t know about you, but that makes me feel better, even if my circumstances haven’t changed.
Check out this music this month and let the lyrics grow your soul. Enjoy your week. Know that He cares about every tiny detail in your life. Nothing is too insignificant to our God. Much love!
Love, Charis
